There are many different criteria by which someone might classify something as “the best nootropic stack” or brain supplement. Everybody wants something different so your best nootropic may be different than mine. This doesn’t even take into consideration that each nootropic will affect everyone differently.
Essentially what we want to do is look at all of the different benefits, pros and cons of each supplement overall for cognitive enhancement. People use different nootropics for different purposes, therefore we are going to go over general nootropic stacks as well as specific categories of nootropics.
As an entrepreneur, I am always looking for what will give me a competitive edge. For this reason, here are the criteria I am going to base this list on:
Nootropics are not just there to make you focus more or increase your memory. A good nootropic helps your brain work more efficiently. For example, few things screw up your brain’s efficiency more than stress and anxiety. A nootropics that is able to improve focus, motivation while reducing stress and anxiety at the same time is a home run in my book. At the very least, we want supplements that are not going to increase anxiety or stress in any way (as many hard stimulants do).

I'm biased here, because I absolutely love Qualia! Of all the smart drugs I have tried, this one works better than anything else. This is the reason it has ended up on so many of my "best of" lists! Qualia is a nootropic stack with many cognitive benefits. For me, it manages to have a calming, stress reducing effect at the same time as providing me with focus and motivation. This is why I rate it the best all-around nootropic stack with multiple purposes. The thing is that Qualia has a combination of so many ingredients that it is too long to list it here. In short, Qualia contains the majority of the supplements and ingredients that we recommend on the site packed into one b
First off, it’s extremely affordable for what you get. I know what you’re thinking. How can you refer to a $130 / month supplement as affordable? However, notice that I said for what you get. As stated on the website, the quantity of ingredients outperforms virtually every other option. Additionally, if you were to purchase every ingredient in Qualia individually, you would end up paying much more per serving. The reason for this is that Neurohacker Collective is buying in bulk and has the manufacturing process down.
As I am writing this blog, I am currently on Qualia. One of the biggest mistakes that I see people make is focusing on how the nootropic makes them feel versus the benefits it has. Personally, I would rather take a drug that improves cognitive performance and makes me feel the same over something that merely produces the “illusion of productivity”. Qualia has personally helped me in 3 key areas:
I have always been a highly anxious, super stressed person. My wife and business partner can attest to that. However, she can also attest to the fact that since I have been on Qualia I have been much more level headed. I used to get overwhelmed and emotional about things like losing sales, losing clients, and feeling overworked. Qualia gives me a state of calm and allows me to put my head down and get the job done.
In addition to that, it has had a profound impact on my focus. It doesn't make me feel "off", doesn't give me the jitters, and doesn't come with a crash like several other alternatives I have tried.
Caffeine / L-theanine is a simple, affordable and highly effective nootropic stack that is great for beginners and has made many of our top 5 lists. This is the very first nootropic I tried out and is what originally got me interested.
It’s simple: Caffeine helps boost energy and focus, while L-Theanine helps curve many of the negative side effects such as jitteriness, anxiety, and the inevitable crash that comes with most stimulants. It should be noted that Qualia by Neurohacker includes Caffeine / L-Theanine, however, this is a great option for those who don’t want to fork over $100 a month (or down 9 pills every day).
Everyone knows the effects caffeine can have on energy and focus. As long as you don’t put too much sugar in it, a cup of coffee (or several) is the go-to fuel for many Americans. Without it, our work lives just wouldn’t be the same. Caffeine does, however, come with side effects that many people could do without. It also typically ends with a crash that requires taking more and it can lose its effectiveness over time.
L-Theanine aids focus on its own. At the same time, it can help relax you and take away the anxiety. L-Theanine is great at removing the side effects and crash that are all-to-often associated with Caffeine and other stimulants. Additionally, the focus-boosting properties on its own make the Caffeine much more effective.
I know, I know. . . this is technically not a nootropic stack - but this one is pretty intense so I felt I had to include it. Modafinil is considered a miracle drug by many. It has a way of giving you attention and getting rid of brain fog without the side effects of other drugs. Unfortunately, Modafinil is only available with a prescription (you can obtain it overseas, though I don’t necessarily recommend it). Please do your own research before going out and buying Modafinil.
I personally take Modafinil occasionally, though it is not my go-to or daily Nootropic. I use Modafinil strictly for scenarios where I really need to get stuff done. In these situations that require extra focus, I will substitute my daily Qualia Stack with a Modafinil.
Only you can decide if it is a good fit for you. There are definitely worse things you could be putting in your body, so weigh the pros and cons to see what is a good fit.
The PAO Stack is a bit more intense than something like a caffeine / l-theanine stack. It involves taking 3 of the most popular racetams and putting them all together. Despite what some say, each racetam has it's own effect and will work together to bring you the ultimate feeling of clarity and focus. For me, this stack has had a powerful effect which caused me to not only be more focused, but also more social and interactive.
Below are the ingredients plus the dosages I take:
I personally like to take all 3 at the same time in the morning with a couple glasses of water. Another thing I would highly recommend is trying them out with a sample pack before spending money on a large quantity.
TRY IT OUT FIRST
This product is a good sample pack to try out some of these nootropics first
As I said before, this is a great stack and is highly effective for a very small amount of money. These 3 ingredients are powerful enough, but I have mixed it in with a cup of coffee in the morning (shh, don't tell anyone) without any issues. While I would not recommend it for first time users, I would definitely say it's worth a shot for someone who has been experimenting in the world of nootropics for a while.
It is important for me to note that I do not recommend taking if this is your first time. I would highly recommend trying each nootropic individually beforehand so you can get a good handle on the effects.
Also not technically a nootropic stack, but it is highly effective at helping social anxiety. While it is known to be addictive, it can be a wonderful tool when used in moderation. Not to mention the fact that it is not nearly as severe as many of the other alternatives (prescription and non-prescription)
I have been a kratom user for many years and originally started to help curve the effects of Adderall. After I quit adderall, I continued using it to help me in business and motivation. I began to overdo it, which ultimately led me to the decision to quit. However, for people who are capable of moderation, it was a gamechanger for an introvert like me when it came to sales and networking in general.
Only you can answer that. One thing I do know is that other supplements (such as phenibut) can be much more addictive with much nastier withdrawal symptoms. Getting off Kratom can be done relatively easily with a good taper plan and some self-discipline. Getting off many other alternatives for anxiety are not that simple.
I would say to steer clear of it if you have an addictive personality (like me). It's just not worth the risk in my opinion.
Although these are the top nootropics, brain supplements, and stacks (in my humble opinion), they aren't by any means the only ones you can try. For this reason, below we are listing many other great nootropics that can have an impacting your life!
Phenibut was developed in the Soviet Union during the 1960's . Be warned with phenibut (like other anti-anxiety pills), it can be addictive and have some severe withdrawal symptoms. However, when used in moderation it can have valuable benefits. It has been known to increase motivation and focus while decreasing anxiety at the same time.
MindLab Pro is a popular pre-made stack that many have raved about over and over again. I have not personally tried it myself and do not have any first hand knowledge of this product, so that is why it is in this section.
